Google Maps Now it's easier to find an address on Google Maps, search addresses with 'Plus Codes'

American tech company Google has launched its new feature on Google Maps for India.  In this feature users can use their current location to find the 'Plus Code' address of their home.  The facility was launched on Thursday, January 27, 2022.  "We want to empower users," said Amanda Bishop, product manager at Google Maps.  They will be able to use the 'plus code' address for their daily needs.  We are happy that more than 3 lakh users in India have found their home address through Plus Code.

According to a statement, saving 'Home' location on Google Maps will allow Indian users to see the 'Use Your Current Location' feature.  In which the location of the phone will be used to generate plus code.  Users will then be able to use it as their home address.  This address can also be shared.

However, according to the company, the feature is currently only available on the Android platform, while it will be rolled out to the iOS platform shortly.

What are Plus Codes?

'Plus Codes' is a free, open source digital address that can provide accurate information even in places that do not have a proper formal address.  Let me tell you, the plus code is based on latitude and longitude instead of street and area names.  Also, they are represented as a short series of letters and numbers.

The plus code consists of a set of 6 or 7 characters, which is the name of the city for the address.  This makes it possible to reach the right place and make it easier to reach the shops.  The Plus Code was launched in the year 2018 and has since been widely adopted by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and governments in the country.
